In a doctrine of building, grace is the supply of materials you did not pay for. We build with discipline, but the foundation and the mortar are gifts from the Great Architect. Without grace the stones grind together and shatter.
Forgiveness · Letting Go of the Weight (Maxims 11 & 13)
Resentment is a weight. Holding a grudge burns energy that should go to building. We do not forgive because the enemy deserves it. We forgive because the Builder cannot afford to carry the weight of the rubble. (Hebrews 12:1: "Let us throw off everything that hinders.")
Absolution · The Clean Slate (Maxims 15 & 19)
Absolution (God washing away sin) is the ultimate Alchemy. It prevents a past failure from destroying the future structure. When we confess our sins, we engage the divine mechanism of Alchemy. Christ's sacrifice allows us to extract the wisdom from the failure (the Crash) while washing away the guilt (the Debris). (1 John 1:9)
Grace · The Resource You Did Not Earn (Maxims 2 & 4)
We cannot build the Temple of Strength without the Mortar of Grace. If we try to build on Will alone, the stones will grind together and shatter. God gave you the car (Grace, Life), but you must drive it (Will, Motion). If you park it and let it rust, you insult the Giver.
