Pastoral Healing Ministry
We don't diagnose. We restore. Built on Christ. Confidential.
For 2,000 years the Church walked with people through anxiety, depression, trauma, and the hard places in the soul. Modern psychology medicalized what were always matters of the spirit. CASH walks that road again, with one clear question under it: where is it jammed, in how you see, how you read, or how you act. This is religious healing ministry under First Amendment protections, not clinical treatment.
§ The Positioning
We don't diagnose. We don't treat. We restore and repair, in a pastoral relationship, grounded in Scripture.
Clinical work labels the symptom. We look for where the trouble actually sits: in how you hold yourself and others as real, in how you read what is happening, or in whether knowing becomes doing. Three people with the same diagnosis can be jammed in three different places, and each needs a different repair.

§ Crisis Floor
If you are in crisis
Call or text 988 first. Pastoral care is a relationship, not an emergency line. If your life is in danger, get to safety first. We will be here when you are stable.
§ PCAS · How Pastor Bryan Counsels
Pastoral Care Assessment System
PCAS is how Pastor Bryan ministers to people who have been told they have anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, and the like. It runs on one filter: every struggle jams in one of three places, in how you see, how you read, or how you act. This is religious healing ministry under First Amendment protections for sincere religious practice. Church of American Strength & Hope is a 501(c)(3) church (EIN 41-4115277). It is not clinical diagnosis, psychotherapy, or medical treatment.
The core distinction
Clinical work moves outside-in: watch the symptoms, assign a label. PCAS works inside-out: find where the person is actually jammed. Two people with the same label can be stuck in different places, and the pastoral relationship meets what is actually there. The filter is for the pastor. The conversation is for the person.
Three places it jams
Every struggle sits somewhere in the same sequence: see, read, act. Find the stage, and you know where the repair goes. Click each for what jams there and how it is restored.
Some conditions sit deeper than a pastoral relationship should carry alone: psychosis, bipolar disorder, dissociative disorders, and the like. We support, we do not replace clinical care, and we refer out. See what we refer out below.
§ The way through
The way through is exposure. Safe exposure.
You do not wait to feel ready. You step toward the thing in a dose you can carry, with people who can hold it. Safe is the whole word. Flooding breaks people. Paced contact rebuilds them.
The read you are stuck with is a belief that never got corrected.
The anxious read, the trauma read, the shame read, each was a conclusion drawn once, under fire, and held too tight ever since, because it was never safely put back to the test. It is not the truth. It is an old guess that never got to update.
Interfere, then examine what comes back.
Step into the thing, then read the result and let it move the belief. New evidence is the only thing that corrects an old conclusion. Failure is data here, not a verdict. The crash tells you exactly what to adjust.
Then again.
Each safe pass moves the belief closer to what is true, and widens what you can hold. You build the bridge by walking it, and the walking is the repair.
Same method at every stage. Boundary, predict, and action all heal one way: safe contact, examined, repeated, until the belief matches the truth.
§ The Four-Part Pastoral Assessment
1
Boundary
Whether you can hold yourself and others as real, separate people. Where the self thins out or the other stops being solid. Done in conversation, not a clinical test.
2
Predict
How you read what is happening and what comes next. Where the read runs stuck on, gone dark, or locked on the past. Heard across the relationship, not measured in an hour.
3
Action
Whether knowing turns into doing, or the move keeps jamming. Where the override gets hijacked, or never fires at all.
4
Integration
How your past, present, and future selves relate. Which are at war. Whether you can reach community or only your own head. Maxim 2.

§ Why we offer this
§ Why we run this
WHAT IT RESTORES
The pastoral relationship where a person can be heard with care, not categorized.
WHAT ENTROPY IT PREVENTS
The drift into isolation, despair, addiction, and disordered thinking that follows when nobody is listening with care. The mismatch where surface symptoms get labels but the underlying pattern goes unaddressed.
MEMBERS-ONLY BECAUSE
Members are part of a church. The pastoral relationship is part of the membership relationship. Religious healing ministry under First Amendment protections requires the religious relationship as its container.
PRICING LOGIC
We charge what it costs. Materials, the work of making, and the lights. Nothing on top.
§ Conditions Addressed
Pastoral Ministry Scope
We provide restoration ministry for what psychology calls mental health disorders. We address these as conditions of the soul, not as medical diseases. Common term first, where it jams second, an honest timeline last.
Anxiety Disorders
Generalized anxiety, panic, social anxiety, phobias
Our understanding
Predict stage. The threat-read stuck on, with no off switch.
Depression
Major depressive disorder, dysthymia, persistent depressive disorder
Our understanding
Predict stage. The road ahead gone dark. Nothing pulls you toward tomorrow.
PTSD and Trauma
PTSD, complex PTSD, acute stress
Our understanding
Predict stage. Focus locked on one past event, re-read into every room.
Addiction
Substance use, behavioral addictions
Our understanding
Action stage. The override hijacked by a fast reward. Tomorrow goes invisible.
Severe substance dependencies may require concurrent medical detox support.
Borderline Personality
BPD, intermittent explosive, rejection sensitivity
Our understanding
Boundary stage. Self and others swing between all-good and all-bad. The ground keeps moving.
Narcissistic Patterns
NPD, severe shame-based patterns
Our understanding
Boundary stage. Others are not held as real. The self is defended at any cost.
OCD
Obsessive and compulsive components
Our understanding
Predict and action. The read loops without landing, and the override fires on compulsion.
Social Anxiety and Avoidance
Social anxiety, situational avoidance
Our understanding
Predict stage, in one area. The threat-read spikes around people; the rest runs fine.
What we refer out
We do not provide ministry for: active suicidal crisis with plan and means (call 988 or 911), acute psychosis requiring hospitalization, medical diseases (diabetes, heart disease, cancer, pneumonia, etc.), medication management or prescription needs, court-ordered treatment requiring a licensed provider, or any condition requiring immediate medical intervention.
We work alongside clinical treatment
You may continue seeing your therapist or psychiatrist. We do not tell people to stop medication. We refer for medical evaluation when appropriate. We build partnerships with clinical providers who respect the framework.
